  Last installment of the Scientology series tonight on A & E

  where leah began with the idea of just a few shows, i think she is now taking this on for "as long as it takes".

  she is in that mode of being outraged that what she believed in so long is such a lie she wants to shout it from the rooftops, and get people to notice.

  the numbers don't lie... definitely slowing down!!.

  in the 40´s the average growth per year was 20%in the 50´s it was about 10%they had four decades of solid 5% per yearnow the average for the past 16 years has been 2%.

  maybe in the future it will be 1% or 0 or even negative????.

  That is a statistical fact.

  Knowing how to type "statistical" doesn't mean you understand statistics.

  I will use an analogy to illustrate. Let's say ten people are killed per year in a city. If that city were New York it would be insignificant, a very, very tiny percentage of the total population. NY would be an extremely safe city, possibly the safest city in the world. What if ten people are killed in a town of 100 people. That's the same number of people, but it's 10 % of the population. That city would be extremely unsafe.

  You see percentages are everything. Absolute numbers don't mean much, unless you have context. Percentage is the context

  Random Thoughts on Getting Older

  the reality that all of us ultimately must face is that we get older and our bodies, and our minds eventually fail us.

  i have seen this first hand in my family, in the jw community, and in the ex-jw community.

  it is simply a sad part of the human condition, as is physical, emotional, and mental illness.

  Percentage is everything. Your analogy is bad

  the question is can her mother and father who are witnesses greet her in the morning only or would they be a sharer in her wicked deeds and thus also be df for saying a greeting?.

  overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).

  I agree with Steve. Skewing statistics is not a good idea. In order to alter the numbers the governing body has to collude with all the branches around the world, and I doubt they would do that. Not wise to cheat when yo know that there are witnesses watching. They are dishonest, not stupid.

  But when gravity catches up with JWs, I wonder how precipitous the fall will be.

  Gravity will be in full effect when the internet generation enters full maturity (over 30) and will get gradually worse. The internet is a game changer.

  Documentary on the problem of child abuse within the Organisation.

  i just watched the following documentary.

  it is absolutely mind boggling the lengths the organisation goes to keep their squeaky clean image, regardless!.

  what struck me was the sneakiness of elders in one particular hall hiding files on a pedophile, and the fact that the organisation arrogantly refuses to speak to journalists.

  JW's at the lowest levels are the kindest and most innocent, but that gradually changes for the worse as you go up the hierarchy.

  Finally, after almost 3 years, they want to visit with me

  my wife was also absent as long but mostly out of chance.

  Below are figures from Mexico (a country with one of the highest numbers of JW's) that show a rather dramatic decline in growth of average publishers, which peaked at 4% (2009 and 2010). In just six years fell to only 1.36 %. It's not just developed countries that see the BS of the Watchtower.
